APPLE CRUMB PIE

1 unbaked deep dish pie shell
4-6 lg. tart apples
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt

CRUMB TOPPING:

1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. flour
1/3 c. butter

Pare apples, sliced into pie shell. Mix next 4 ingredients, sprinkle over apples. Make crumb topping by mixing together sugar and flour, then cutting in butter. Press over top of apples. Place on metal cookie sheet.

3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. quick cooking oats
1/3 c. butter softened
3/4 t cinnamon
3/4 t nutmeg
just mix it till crumbly and put it on top of the pie and bake

Here's a good recipe for you, although I would double it myself!

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter, chilled
1 cup chopped walnuts
Cut butter into flour then add brown sugar, cinnamon and stir in walnutes (opt). sprinkle on pie and bake.

1/2 cup butter or margerine
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 3/4 cup flour
1 cup oats
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup peacans chopped pecans

this makes a bottom and top crust. set aside 2 cups for top crust. i use this crust for all crisps like rhubarb and apples
