Good heavens no. Where did you hear that? You need to be there with her when she has them and you may have to help get the sacks off the pups head and clear their airway.
I have been helping my dogs whelp for many years and I have NEVER seen a mom eat her puppies.
You might want to do some research on what to do..
Here are some links for you.. They are very helpful!

Many things can happen to your dog with any litter be it first or whenever. Keeping your dog on a proper diet through her entire pregnancy will help you with everything. Be sure to increase her food about 4 weeks along as she could absorb her puppies.. Give daily vitimins very important. With out the proper vitamines puppies can die,

I hope you plan to be around when she goes in to labor and delivers. I also hope you have taken her to a vet to be checked out. Please watch her carefully to make sure she is OK and the puppies are OK. If this is her first litter she may not know what to do with the first puppy. Go to the book store or library and get a book on labor and delivery. Also get the name of a vet if you don't have one, in case she runs into problems and needs medical help.

no it won't happen. i breed golden retrievers and i never seen this happen. dogs are better mothers then cats. i have known cats to do this but not dogs. she will be fine. just watch her when she does have them, just in case you need to help. you never want to leave her alone til she has them because you need to be there for her while giving birth. she will be fine and so will the puppies. good luck

Some dogs HAVE been known to get nervous and eat their litter when they're born. But if you watch your dog, it will be ok.

Its highly uncommon for a dog to eat her own pups. So most likely no.
