My skin (usually oily) has now become seriously dry coz of the changing weather and the panoxl gel and calamine lotion. (I used to have bad acne, now just some pimples.)
I used the St. Ives Aloe Vera Advanced Therapy Extra Dry Skin lotion in the huge bottle on my face.
CAN THAT BE USED ON THE FACE? I did, and now, a few days later, my face is covered with pimples. And I haven't used it in a day, and i'm getting more pimples.
I also used the Estee Lauder Hydra Complete Multi Level moisture cream at the same time in a desperate attempt to get my face plump enough to apply concealer. I believe that is for facial use.
Now I have tons of pimples.....!!!!
Could someone please help? Can the St. Ives lotion be used on the face?
I was also having period trouble and was taking antibiotics for it. But this ocurred when my period was almost over, so I don't know if I can blame hormones.
I also use MAC makeup daily and am 14 years old.
Please help.....anything??

clean all of your makeup brushes first. if that doesnt help, get rid of the st. ives. if it doesnt help, skip the estee lauder. give each thing a week or two. you have to get rid of one variable at a time. talk to a dermatologist if this keeps happening. the antibiotics could definitely have something to do with it

stop using all that stuff on your face!St. Ives is a crummy brand altogether; espec. DON'T use on your face. Essential: DON'T PICK. DO NOT MOISTURIZE your face ANYWHERE that is NOT DRY. Get a good face wash...i am allergic to almost all moisturizers, toners, and face washes. i get painful bumps, lumps, pimples...but not in several years. there are good products out there. you need something special--NOT estee lauder...from a company where SKIN is their BUSINESS. NOT a makeup line who sells skin care on the side. See if your adult would take you to sephora. get Bascia Willow Bark Breakout Lotion. It's AWESOME!!!!!! Also, online, go to Mario Badescu.com--a famous spa where models and movie stars, etc. go. see if you are able to 1. order botanical facial gel & Special Cucumber Lotion. One's a cleanser, the other a toner. Not over-expensive AT ALL! You use this stuff, and your face won't get dry, and won't get oily. they also have Drying Cream, Drying Lotion, and Acne Facial Wash. Ans Hyaluronic Gel. Investigate this stuff. it's a dream come true. take the evasluation thingy at the site to find out what products they select for you. Either at the bottom of the page w/the remedies they show you, or at the bottom of the email they send you, it'll tell you to click the link if you want samples. some of my friends forgot & didn't get the samples. at any rate they'll tell you what's best for you! PROMISE!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!

Hey girl, I understand your problem! I was plagued with terrible acne until my senior year of high school. I tried everything from Proactive, to getting medication from the doctor. Nothing helped. I was worried about my scabs getting dried and scaly, so that it was impossible to put on concealer or base!!
My solution:
1. Stop with the lotions, moisturizers, etc.
2. Don't ever touch your face before you wash your hands completely.
3. Wash your pillow-case daily, or change to a new one. Oils from your supposedly "dry" skin can do further damage. Even oils from your hair and neck and ears can irritate delicate facial skin.
4. Start over with your makeups. If they are 1 month old, you need to discard any unused portions of base and concealer, as bacteria will collect inside the containers and then irritate your skin when the cosmetic is applied.
5. Use basic skin care: wash, tone, moisturize.
6. Have a professional such as a Clinique practitioner help you decide which type of skin care is best for you. (oily, dry, combination, etc.)
7. Use only "non-comodogenic" cosmetics and facial cleaners/moisturizers. That means even odorless products.
8. Treat your skin from the inside: Drink plenty of water. I try to drink close to a gallon a day, because of my busy lifestyle, and more if I perspirate often.
---Take a good multivitamin.
Here's a great website with wonderful skin-care products, and health-related products. http://krogers2.qhealthbeauty.com/Products/Product.aspx?ItemNo=104174 Their multivitamin will help with your skin issues, and will help with a multitude of other issues in your body.
9. Get plenty of sleep. Teenagers need around 9 hours of sleep. The average 8 hours is for the non-developing adult over 21. Make sure you do your skin care before bed, and drink a glass of water.

Good luck with your improvement! I'd also like to say that you should treat your skin as you would the most wonderful, best friend. I know it sounds goofy, but think about it....your skin helps you deal with stress, it keeps you warm and allows you comfort and alerts you when you're in danger of pain. It's a literal body guard! haha....so try those things, and don't give up! Your skin will thank you!

I don't recommend using such rich moisturizers on acne prone skin. Instead, use a light oil-free lotion made specifically for oily skin. Clean and Clear has a 2-in1 oil absorbing facial lotion that is great for skin like yours. You seem to be using a lot of products on your face and that might be making your skin freak out. And you're doing welll using MAC makeup because it is of high quality. Dermatologists recommend you drinking lots of water and taking multivitamins, and getting enough sleep and exercise. I hope your skin improves, hun! :)

Good luck.

give your skin a break from the products for as long as you can stand it. Wash your face with simple hand soap and water at night, sleep clean, and in the morning rinse it with water an put on a light moisturizer. If your skin gets too dry it will start producing extra oil to compensate. Try using as little makeup as possible, with no foundation, and it will give you a better complextion in the long term, so you wont been the concealer anymore.
