was born and I have yet to see him, have been financilally crippled, getting a divorce or at least getting the courage too, my grandsons birthday is next week, my problem is that I almost feel uncomfortable buying a card that say's grandson since I have not afforded any money and since I have not seen him, my daughters relationship with me is strained since I am here what do you think I should do and thanks for your answers!

Do what you can but don't remain silent AND distant. I think the card is a good start to let your daughter know he son's grandmother is there even if she ignores her own mother. Just a thought. I wish you the best in this trying time.

Regardless of the distance between the two of you, he is still your grandson. You should not feel bad about sending the card. I am sure your daughter knows you would be there if you could and if she doesn't tell her.

Email can be sent for free - your words to her can be priceless.

Ask your daughter to send you some emailed photos of the baby. I am sure she wants her mom now that she's a mom and is probably waiting for some opportunity to bridge the gap between you.

Don't let an uncomfortable feeling stop you from showing your love.
You only get one life to live so don't waste it worrying about IF you should do something that you obviously want to do, which is a nice thing to do.
