I was wondering if anyone has had experience of a dog biting right through tyres and making marks. Is it possible a dogs tooth could penetrate a car tyre? Does anyone know of this happening before?

Yes, it is possible for some dogs to do this. It has nothing to do with the breed of the dog but instead the temperment/character of the dog. Some dogs, regardless of age, enjoy biting things for hours at a time. Sometimes, some dogs try to bite the hardest thing they can find in a moment. I have a German Shepherd (9 years old now) that when he was younger, he would find those large PURE rocks and litterally cut them in half with his teeth. Some dogs, not breeds, have large amounts of pressure and anxiety that they need something to chew on to alleviate themselves. I've owned Malinois and Dutch Shepherds that find trees and rip of chunks of it every couple of days/weeks. It depends on the dog. But, yes, it is possible for him/her to have chewed on your tires.

Depends where the marks are. If they are somewhere the dog can't get its jaw round the tyre then no. So if they're at the top and bottom (12 and 6 oclock) then no.
Large breeds can but its an odd thing for a dog to wander down the street and on a whim just chew your tyres.
Its more likely to be a screwdriver.

yes very possible,my mate used to roll fully inflated tyres down the garden for his Rottweiler to puncture them, swing them about a bit and then bring them back.Any dog with enough bite pressure could do it.

Yes. I know of one instance in which an Apbt punctured a 14" tire.

Damn right. And I would make sure I left all sorts of doggy presents behind too. You know, on the doorstep, under the wheels of my car for maximum spread as I peeled out..

Yeah. It is a common occurrence.

Large (strong) breeds like rottweilers, dobermans, pittbulls have no problem to do this.

Even our staffie managed to do this.

It's not just fighting breeds: any high-energy, bored dog might have done it. My grandpa's border collies ate the tires off his truck.

first of all...do you mean tire?

Im not sure if they can but pit bulls and rottweilers (sorry about the spelling) have pretty vicious bites...it could be possible....but i dont know if it is possible to bite completely through the tire.
