Okay so this is the deal....last night at work the people in administration delivered plates of Gingerbread cookies for the Holidays. There were 12 cookies on the plate and there are 21 people in the department. Well the corridinator got ALL bent out of shape this morning because us on the night shift left 3 cookies on the plate. He even went so far as to email the lady in charge of distrubuting the cookies. I honostly didn't think of making the night shift save some for next day for the morning people. They have 8 to 9 people on their shift where I have 5 to 6 people on mine so either way there wouldn't have been enough for EVERYONE! Usually when the dayshift gets something, they let us have "whats left over" which is usually crap that has been sitting out all day long!!! I am curious as to what others would have done in this situation.

There was also a house wide email that went out saying "we will be delivering cookies to your department" from the administration.

The coordinator needs to lighten up, first thing, it sounds so immature to go as far as formally complain!! I understand that you guys probably didn't even think of "saving" them for the day shift when as you say there weren't enough to go around anyway, but like you, I would wonder and kinda feel bad even if you guys did nothing wrong. My suggestion to make your coordinator to feel as small as he should while you will remain the much bigger person to buy some nice cookies and present them to him on a cool Christmas platter or something, What could he do but feel like a fool yet have not a thing to say except, 'Thank you"? And you can just be as gracious as you need to be. Kind of mean, but his actions are very immature and who knows, maybe he didn''t get enough cookies as a child!! LOL Merry Christmas!!!!

This was a poor show on his part to email the person that gave the cookies, very ungracious indeed...it was not up to you to "save" cookies for the morning people...This guy needs to get a grip! I work in the same kind of environment and usually the night shift gets "the dregs" if there are any goodies in the kitchen...It just makes him look petty and like an ungracious fool...don't think another though about it...You are right, either way, there wouldn't have been enough for all to have one cookie...These office situations can be sometimes unjust but, you were not in the wrong and the other guy looks like a jerk...you cannot look a gift horse in the mouth, plain and simple!

The battle of the shift continues lol good to see it is just not on my job lol fk the people on day shift. They always get the good stuff. Employees give them things that you are not even aware of cuz they dont leave anything for nights to pick through. Take a picture of some cookies with an instant camera & leave it for the day people & call it even.

Since they came from administration, I would have assumed that the cookies were specifically for the evening shift (since, as you already pointed out, the evening shift usually gets the "morning shift leftovers"). I wouldn't have done anything differently myself.

I am a nurse working on third shift. We get the leftovers, just as you say. Very rarely are we remembered by patients, staff or administration. Sometimes there will be a plate designated for us, but the other shifts will dig into it. Soooo, when something comes your way, carpe diem!! They were lucky you left them three.

Why is this dude so angry? They're just cookies! And besides, its Christmas season, there will be lots of cookies around for him to chomp on! No, I don't think you did anything wrong, I think this guy is making a huge deal about nothing. How unprofessional.

Your coordinator is anal and stupid to boot. I would have let my shift eat them too. In response to the coordinator`s idiocy, I would bring in cookies for the day shift and address the label to Everyone Except (insert doofus name here), then I would tell him: See? Now that`s how to be childish! Put more effort into it next time, slacker!"

He E-MAILED somebody about a few biscuits? I take it you are not very busy at work at the moment?

Possession is 9 / 10 of the law. I would have eaten the lot, and blamed it on the mice.

i would've 'disposed' of the evidence that we got any food at all by eating them with my co-workers, saving none for the morning crabs. who wants cookies that have been sitting out all night/morning any way?
