Series. Any one light who's filament opens opens the circuit for the rest. In parallel, if one light goes out, it generally has no effect on the rest so they will stay on. Remember electrical current flow requires a continuous loop

Series means they are all connected together in a chain. One goes out, they all do. In parallel they basically are all connected to the power source; if one goes out the rest work.
