Chris H had it pretty much correct.

I have two hi-powers and had for awhile a 92fs and prefer the Browning Hi-power over the 92. I also prefer the 1911 over the beretta too.

The hi-powers are smaller than the beretta, the pointability and grip angle are better and really good for any semi-auto. Also, the hi-power doesn't feel as big and is actually pretty compact without that much recoil and heaviness. The 1911 is heavier, but feels nice do to the singlestack magazine and has pointability and a nice trigger.

The beretta isn't a bad gun, it is reliable for civilian work and accurate without too much muzzle flip or recoil. It depends alot on the loads for recoil. But, I carry my 1911 first and my hi-power second mostly for the better feel and just my preferences.

But, there are alot of people that love it, and in the end it is up to preference. Try it out, while trying Glock, Sig Sauer, and the hi-power and 1911 and see what you like better. You might find one where you find the controls easily reachable and one that you feel comfortable with. I feel comfortable with both my hi-powers and my 1911s. But, in the end it is what you are comfortable shooting.

You mean the 92? Or in my case the 92FS Brigadier Inox.

I do and I don't like it. I don't like the balance, I don't like the thin rails where the barrel locks into the slide. On the 1911 and Glocks the sides of the slide are full thickness and the barrel locks into the top of the slide, in the 1911 with grooves in the top of the barrel and with the Glock the breach locks into the ejection port. Special forces had trouble with slides cracking at the cutouts which is why they bought the HK USP SOCOM instead. I don't like the plastic trigger and the disconnected feeling of the DA trigger, worse than the Glock. I don't like the external bar that seems to co ck the hammer (it's not like I've got it here in front of me). I don't like that it can be disassembled when loaded and ****** by simply reaching over the gun, depressing the lock with one thumb and rotating the catch with the fingers. I don't like the size of the grip, I don't have an issue with a Glock 20 but with the Beretta the mag release is just out of reach of my thumb. I don't like the rough machining in some parts of the slide either.

Other than that, it shoots well enough, but it's a big lump of metalwork for 'just a 9mm'. If I had it to do again, and I have because I'm trading it in, I'd get the Browning Hi-Power or the Brno CZ-75

I have a 92FS. It's my favorite although I have a permit and it's a little large to conceal. Great balance and very accurate.
