Time and daily experinces. You never really know, because it can take years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it. Go with your gut, but to keep up walls all the time will prevent you from experiencing true happiness and trust. You can't control what others do to you, so just hope for the best!

Truthfully, you cannot even trust yourself! Time and circumstances change and people change accordingly - a question of survival. I suggest that you read a book - "The Selfish Gene". However, at different times in our lives, we have to trust someone e.g. your mother when you are young, your doctor when you are sick etc. Luck has a lot to do with one and people judgement, a lot to do with the other. The better you are at judging people and circumstance, the less you will be disappointed. Expect the worst but hope for the best: and good luck!

Trust only comes with time and it is something you both have to work at. Only with time can you work out if someone is totally honest.

it takes time to know if you can trust a person, experience and patience. Even when you think you can trust a person, sometimes you really can't.

I have the very same problem. My solution is to just wait a long time to get to know the other person well.

trust them until they are proven untrustworthy.. otherwise you just end up hurting them, yourself and making unnecessary problems! I know sometimes it seems hard but just make it a conscious decision to trust them

You have to have faith in your ''gut feeling". Trust when it feels right. No one can answer this for you.
