Don' t worry about the CAUSE at this time. TREAT your husband first.
1) Antibiotics to wall off infection. Call DDS for prescription.
2) Advil or Motrin or Tylenol to reduce fever. Keep temperature AT LEAST below 101 F and monitor his temperature every 4 hours. If the temperature does not come down after 2 hours of taking the medication, go to the emergency room.
3) Drink plenty of water.
4) If he is vomiting, phenergan per rectal.
5) Liquid or soft diet.
6) If possible, take his blood pressure.

Your Dentist should not have brushed you off that way. Although your husband may have the flew, the fever can also be caused by a number of other problems since the oral cavity is connected to or related to so many other structures and spaces, including the cranial cavity which houses the brain, and the thoracic cavity which houses the lungs and the heart. It's better to be safe than sorry so i would suggest you call your dentist again or consult your physician.

He certainly has an infection, but whether it is due to his tooth or not is hard to say. Certainly the timing is suspicious. His symptoms are also consistent with the flu.
It would be very rare for a healthy person to die from dental work, but if you husband has serious health problems like diabetes the risk would be increased. To be on the safe side, I would recommend you call you family doctor, or have him evaluated in an urgent care or emergency room setting.

I know it seems rash, but I would.
My Mother (84 with congestive heart failure) caught a cold from the dental assistant and died three weeks later. After the cold, bronchitis, pneumonia, kidney failure.
Better safe than sorry and 103 for an adult is pretty high.
So I am more than a little NUTS on this subject.

I think your husband should be seen by another DDS or in the emergency room. He has an infection, that is why the root canal was needed. Perhaps the DDS should have given him an antibiotic. I would not wait on this if I were you, get him help NOW.

Well they say that chocolate is to sweet for a dogs stomach so they get really sick and might even die. My friend's dog ate a pound of chocoalte and as far as I know it is still alive. That is not something I can answer but it all depends on the dog. If your dog ate a lot of chocolate you should take it to the Vet asap!

IF A BLOOD INFECTION IS THE RESULT OF A DENTAL PROCEDURE, IT NORMALLY TAKE A DAY OR TWO TO MANIFEST.
PROBABLY THIS UNFORTUNATE OCCURRENCE IS DUE TO TIME AND CHANCE, NOT THE DENTIST. IT MAY WELL BE THE FLU THAT IS MANIFEST IN THIS EVENT.
