My diet is overall normal. If anything, I don't eat very much. However, since the birth of my second son I feel completely drained all of the time. I could sleep for 12 hours straight, if no one bothered me, and much of the day I am still exhausted. What could help with this? I've considered a meatless diet, but would that really help? Before I loved to exercise, was full of energy; now I just feel like a lazy person. With the exception of playing with my children and doing basic cleaning, I do have no other stimulation because I know no one in this state and don't have the cash to put the kids in daycare. All of my family are 2 1/2 hours drive from here. Any informed suggestions are very much appreciated.

Also my husband is away from home working from 3 pm to 8 am. His family are all 4 hours drive so that's not really an outlet either.

I forgot to mention the kids are 1 1/2 years old and 4 years old. It's really impossible to distract them with sports at this age. I do think the DDR idea is pretty good though, especially since both kids like to dance and mimic my movements. Regarding the iron, my body rejects iron. I did have to take iron pills due to anemia but I would usually vomit them up shortly after or have stomach pains. Thanks for all the ideas and I hope they keep coming. ;)

it could partly be health, but also be partly that you are bored,,,,,,and tired, children do drain you, as in both ways, as you are always on call,, i suggest making sure you do eat enough,,, whether you decide to go veggie or not, and take a multi vitamin,,,,,,, also, if you have any time in the morning before your husband goes to work,,, or your husbands off days,,,,, get out by yourself, to take a class,,, or develop a hobby , volunteer at a local school for an hour a week or any volunteering,,,,,, this will both help you meet new people, and also break up your routine ,,,,even going to lunch by yourself once a week can help,,,,,,check out also times at the library or other community things for children, they are free
ps: it is not healthy either phsically or emotionally to be isolated from interacting with other adults , as much as you appear to be,,,,,,i went threw the same thing when i moved with my husbands work and my daughter was small,,,,,,,,

Hum,
Well the old fashioned remedy was B12. Of course you always want to make sure that you don't have something physical causing the tiredness.
Diet can be a factor as well as emotions. Having kids is tiring no matter what.
If I am tired I try to keep going and then get a second wind.
You might just need a little break or do something sepcial for yourself- A lot of parents feel the same way you do.
Good Luck and Happy Holidays.

Get your blood tested for red cell count. The most common cause for fatigue is anemia, which is usally caused by an iron deficency. So take a supplement with iron.

Also you need to get your body in shape with exercise. It hurts for the first few weeks and then you will find you are extremely alert and full of energy. A 20 minute run in the morning would be a great start.

I hope you are taking a basic multi vitamin. I think it is one of the B complex vitamins that you need if you are vegan or veggie, that you won't get otherwise. I've been vegetarian and vegan for years at a time. I no longer believe it to be a "natural" diet. Your body is evolved to be omnivore. I do think it is healthy to eat less meat than the typical diet in the USA.

I just switched to a meatless diet, and I have not found an increase or decrease in energy. However, my guts and bowels have never felt better!
I would suggest something like Dance Dance Revolution. I have a DDR pad and it is what gets me motivated to at least stay active when I don't feel like going outside or going to the gym. Your kids would probably like it too.

Im a vegitarian and i actually think we have less energy because of iron deficiency. Being a vegan is also not a good idea energy wise. You really have to balence your diet out if your going to go vegitarian. Sometimes i also feel lazy, and i dont want to do anything, and if you take a day to relax, you should be fine. Your probably really stressed. Now i know its impossible sometimes to find time, but if you do this you should be fine.

.. I think if I had two kids, I'd feel fatigued a lot too. Maybe just drink more coffee, haha.

You should see your doctor and ask to have a HgbA1C checked. Diabetes can cause those symptoms also.
