I think true happiness is not measured by how much you smile or how friendly you are, any more than it can be measured by how much money you have. But I definitely believe that true happiness exists, but I also think that since everyone defines happiness as something different, only you can know if you're really happy. If you don't feel like you are lately, take a look at your life- has something happened recently that has caused you to feel down? (a lost job, a break-up, etc.) Or maybe you're in a job or situation where you don't feel challenged or appreciated, and that's causing your happiness to diminish. Or maybe it's the holidays- you may have a case of the Charlie Browns (remember in the movie where he feels sort of depressed because he feels like he should be more excited about Christmas?). Also, even perfectly happy people have off days every now and then. I consider myself a very happy person, but there will be times when I feel less "fizzy" than usual for days on end because I'm stressed out or tired. Wait until the holidays are over and see if it passes. If you still feel sad, try to make a life change that will make you feel good, like a new job helping people, or maybe volunteer work. Good luck!

Christmas is a hard time of year. As for happiness, yes it does exist. In fact I was happy for a very long time. I had a dream come true than I blew it and will have to live with this for the rest of my life. So on that note it doesn't exist now. Damn I feel lowsey now that I think of it.

Happiness is not about smiling a lot, nor about being friendly or having lots of friends. Happiness is something you feel inside of you and cannot go away easily unless you got DEPRESSION.

Your question reminds me of the saying, "Freedom isn't free". Happiness isn't free either. It takes a bit of work, and sometimes things just aren't "lined-up" for you to be happy. Life isn't just one big "Happy Party". Sometimes you're not happy. That's life. That will pass too. Actasif's answer has the best way to get happy again, and for longer, more stable periods of time. Try it. You'll like it! God Bless you.

Yes, happiness does exist. The holidays are difficult sometimes for us, I know.
Go out and do something good or something nice for YOURSELF. Give something to the less fortunate. Volunteer at a soup kitchen or at a hospital or something like that. Do something for another person from the heart. It will make you feel good inside.

Happiness is a state of mind that exists only when everything is going your way. Being content is a better space to occupy in life. Youcan achieve this by consulting GOD often and following the directions he gives. Everything else will fall into place and you will gain contentment

Are you getting enough sleep? Are you eating properly? It may just be a temporary chemical imbalance. Try doing some activities that you enojy, sports, shopping, the movies, get a job, or anything else. Make yourself feel like you have a meaning in life. Getting a job or volunteer work is especially good.

For me there is such a thing as happiness, we just have to find it. But lately happiness has been nothing but a mask for me, underneath this smile, really there is nothing but a broken child.
