yes it can be really hard for some people. smoking is an addiction and an addiction is just that: something you are psychologically drawn to do without thinking, your body becomes addicted to the effects whether your minds wants it or not.

It's a physical addiction...It's kinda like asking, "Can't you just stop doing heroine?"
It's very hard. Far from impossible, but hard none the less.
They say cold turkey is the best, since it starts eliminating the addictive substances from your body right away. The patch, gum, etc. will allow you to taper your use, but it will take much more time.
I found that the first 48 hours were the toughest...Once I had a couple of days behind me, the rest was a matter of reminding myself that I had done it, and I could continue to do it. It has been 9 years now, and I am finally in a spot where I can enjoy a smoke if I'm out drinking with friends, but not feel cravings for more.

Well the long term effects it has on a baby is much more then low birth weight. Everry time you smoke it's like the baby breathes thru a straw. Asthma, growth problems and immune system problems. ADD, ADHD and autism have all been linked to smoking moms. You almost done with the pregancy anyways, but for the sake of your own health and life stop now! After the baby is born, DON'T smoke around it! Smoke outside if you feel like you have to! Smoke on clothes, the baby's clothes the house in the car, none of this is okay. Do you really want your baby to smell like smoke? How embarrassing that would be! There's a cigarrett called quest. It's steps. Step 1 is nicotine, 2 is lowered and 3 is none. It' helped me. I used it and then found out I was pregnant. Lucky choise huh? Been smoke free 5 years!

yea, it tends to be addicting. chew gum or do something with your mouth while constantly doing something. keep yourself so busy that you just fall into bed at night without a thought. i've never smoked and dont plan on it, but this seems like a logical way to try to stop. i have no idea if it works tho, so let me know.

I quit in 1991 and it was the single best thing I have ever done in my life. Try what I did. For one year, I would not smoke a cigarette till noon. The next year I waited till 5 pm. The next year 8 pm. After a few months I quit and have never been tempted since. You have to quit. You have no choice. It will kill you.

Yes it's hard because you become addicted, so it's difficult to just stop.
