Hello everyone,, i am new to this board.... Today is my 9th day on lexapro 5mg. My doctor wanted me to start 10mgs after one week, but i asked for another week because i feel that im not ready for 10 yet. I am experiencing side effects pretty bad... although they are getting better, i have some nausea, headaches, feel a little "out of it", and the one that bothers me the most?! INSOMNIA!! I have to take a xanex at nite just to even be able to fall asleep, and i still wake up all night long. I notice that after i take my pill, for a few hours im kinda jittery, then around 5 hours after i take it im kinda zombied out... I guess what my question is is will these side effects, espicially the insomnia go away with time?? around how long? i need sleep in order to work!! and also my other question is, when i up my dose from 5 to 10mgs next week, will the side effects get worse?? Anyone that has any experience with this please give me some advice... ... also is it better to take it in the mo

I have been on Lexapro for 8 months now started with 5mgs and now on 20 mgs a day made me sick as a dog for 2 weeks it wil subside the stuff works well for panic and anxiety but you have to stick it out!! I too had to have something at first to help me sleep but I have recently just quit taking that I feel great no attacks in 3 months which is a record for me!! Good luck to you!!

I have taken Lexapro and I took it every morning. I did not have many side effects with it except headaches, but this side effect went away in less than a week. If you are still having these bothersome side effects after 7-10 days of treatment--call your MD and let them know--you may need to be changed to something else. If your side effects do continue and you increase your dosage--the side effects will most likely worsen too.

The only problem I have with it is my legs KILL me at night when I try to sleep (jerking). I can take up to 20mgs a day but usually just take it when my husband says I need to then I go with 10mgs. I don't mean that in a bad way but he truly knows me best and honestly has my best interest at heart. I have told him some days I can't stand myself so he really does know when I am not myself. I love him so much!

Well, it you are taking it at night and having insomnia, the obvious answer would be to take it in the morning. It will take about six weeks for the side effects to settle down. If you are still having problems, then talk to your health care professional about changing prescriptions.

i had so many problems when i started lexapro i almost stopped it. i was sick ot my stomach, jittery, getting headaches, it sucked. but after about 2 weeks it went away. its going to take a bit for your body to get used to it, ask your doctor about trazadone for your insomnia, i take it, and with my lexapro it helps A LOT. opnly take your xanax when youre having an attack, or your body will get to used to it stick with the lexapro, i has done wonders for me
oh, and i take my lexapro at 10am, my trazadone a half hour before bed, and xanax when im having a panic attack
