OR you could say something like...
My cat - a notorious creature of ill deed and wicked intent - has the irritating habit of humming quietly to herself.
When I tell her to stop she says she wasn't aware she was doing it and then, after a short pause, continues.
I'm sure she only does it because she knows it infuriates me so.
Or is that just Maisie? (my cat)

'Heaven and Hell in a furry body' is the best description I've ever heard (My dad's) for describing a typical 'Cat'
