The first cars were kind of a novelty and there were no roads designed specifically for them.

In New York or maybe Jersey, they opened some roads designed for cars in a park. They were literally park ways. The name stuck.

As far as a driveway goes, the name has been around a long time - since the horse and carriage days.

i think because we are not supposed 2 park on highways and we arent sposed 2 drive on driveways
