It does sound boring... if you don't think that you'll enjoy spending time with God. But think back on your life and imagine the times when you were happiest. For me it was when I was first dating my wife - getting to know her and that crazy love that makes you want to spend every waking moment together. And then when my son was born. I didn't want to go back to work because I didn't want to leave him - even for a second.
Life in heaven must be like this. We will finally get to know what God is really like and talk to Him face to face.
Apart from the wisdom of God though, even an eternity with a very pleasant person sounds tedious. But... life in heaven will be different that what we are accustomed to here. For one thing, many theologians theorize that we will be able to travel through time like we travel through space now. Eternity means something completely different to an eternal being. In that sense, we would eternally be in God's presence just like we always wear clothes now. They are with us wherever we go, just as God's presence will be with us wherever (or whenever) we are in heaven.
Just the fact that it is hard for us to understand or grasp what God is tells us that the afterlife will be far more complex (and interesting) than we can understand in this life.

Actually, living on earth is the time to praise and serve God.
God created us to care for the earth (starting with Adam and Eve), then gave us special gifts, or talents, in order to better serve others and Him in this world. Notice how some people are better than others in some areas; music, math, computer work, etc. Those are gifts from God.
It is not necessarily by our activity level that we are chosen, but by our faith in God that will bring us to His kingdom for eternity. We serve endlessly on earth because it pleases Him. WE obeyed our parents, teachers and leaders to please them and to please God, as well. This was His commandment to us to love others, honor parents, etc.
When we reach heaven, we can expect to live in paradise. It is not the "sweat shop" that someone has misinformed you about. If and when we are chosen, we will live a life of eternal bliss and peace. Nothing in heaven is scary, that may be "hell" that you are confusing it with here.
Peace to you always

Anyone -- even the biggest Christian on the face of the planet -- would get sick of that almost immediately. The people who say they wouldn't are the people who don't comprehend how long an eternity is. Not a million years, not a billion years, not a googolplex years, but FOREVER. And doing nothing but worshipping God every second of every day? You would drive yourself insane after the first decade or so.

Then you are very fortunate. You will not have to spend eternity anywhere near God.

We will be worshiping God, yes, but we will also be exploring His creation and learning more about Him. We will never stop learning. In our glorified bodies, we will be able to comprehend more the awesomeness of God. As for me, I cannot wait.

Sounds pretty boring to me. I remember some people saying that they were going to hang out in their mansions and go surfing with jesus, but I can think of more fufilling things to do with any extra time I might get - and they don't involve worshiping anyone (not in that sense, at least).
