See a few months ago my friend and his gf broke up, well i was wondering if you thought it was a bad idea to ask her out.

I think you should be able to date whoever you want long as they are not taken.

You need to take your friend's feelings into consideration. You need to ask him if it would be alright to ask her out. The tricky part is that you need to make sure enough time has passed that he's over it all. Same goes for her. You don't want to be the rebound man.
Also, you need to take into consideration what caused them to break up in the first place. If she dumped him, you may have some problems with her simply by your association with your friend. if she has problems with him, odds are she'll have problems with you and/or see some of the same things in you that she hated about him.
It may be the same trouble if he dumped her, but there's also the possibility that she'll go out with you just to get back at your friend.
If it was a relatively mutual break-up, you might be okay.
Tread lightly, my friend, this is dangerous territory.

Depends. First of all, you have to evaluate which is more important: (a) dating this girl, or (b) keeping your friend. If the answer is "(a)" do the classy thing and ask him first. Even if he gives you the okay, there is virtually 100% chance that

Wrong on so many levels....
But if you are willing to lose your friendship over it...go for it... but don't expect your friend will ever trust your friendship even if you and his ex don't work out.
Another thing you could do is ask him how he feel if you asked her out... nothing wrong with being direct.

YES!!!! Best friends and even just friends you can not date there exes. You would not like it if they done that to you. And if she would do that to two friends then she is nothing but a skank.

it amazes me how many so-called friends on here are quick to go after an ex.
it is generally considered insulting and immoral to date your friend's ex.
but if the ex is more important to you than the friend, then heck, date her!

first ask your friend if it is okay to date his x. if he yes is does not really mean that. i know from expereince. i went out with my best friends x. and she got really mad. but she did not tell me not to. so even though he said no i don not care. he cares. so if you really love this girl then you need to take the chance and ask her out. and your friend should understand that you love this girl and he would let you be with her!

ask him first to see how he feels about it. it could be really weird if you all hang out though. if he says it is ok then go for it but make sure you get the nod from him first
