I think it is young and immature parents that care about their status with the mini van. I for one love mine. It is so convenient and much more safe.

I don't like minivans from the past. My family had a brand new 1993 dodge caravan. It broke down so many times we couldn't believe it. But that's dodge. A lot of minivans have a dog bone, it's it's very hard to do service to the vehicle. Some minivans like the old Chevy astro actually have service areas under the passenger rear side instead of the front of the hood. It costs a lot of money because the manufactures jam so much into a little space, so you can have a lot of space for your family. It costs a lot to repair these things. Because it takes longer to work with no space and labor rates cost about 70 to 90 dollars an hour. I have known a customer who bought a 01 Honda Odyssey and I was the first person to take care of it since he bought it. Man, his past purchases for the minivan end up to be 6,000 in 2 years. Be wise when buying a minivan or any type of car, and take it to a licensed mechanic. Minivans look great, but all I see is dollar bills flying out of people's pockets.

Consumers care if they're "not cool," hence the surge in SUV purchases. Also, it tends to be a guy thing. My SIL wanted a minivan, but her husband DEMANDED they look for an SUV so he didn't look like a ninny when he drove it. Lame, huh?
Either way, I'd LOVE a minivan right now. 2 infants in a Chevy Prizm just doesn't work very well!! Their double stroller is practically the size of the WHOLE trunk!

I am a minivan driver, soccer mom, stay at home mother of 3! I love my NISSAN QUEST and would not be able to live without it. It is perfect: a DVD player to keep the kids ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ and plenty of space. The thought of traveling in my Husband's Nissan Maxima, ettth!

A minivan is a family car. It's not the image young, hip people want to portray.

It's an image that doesn't fit everyone and not everyone wants to portray.
Oh, but minivans tend to get better gas mileage than SUVs, so that answer was wrong.

i think it just the perception of having a mini van is like you are now a family person and you have to give up your life as a single stud. and when you see someone hot they will be thinking "family guy" not datable and won't look at you. i think they are fine

It's not because they are not cool. It's because they are gas guzzlers, which can harm the environment.
That said, I don't like minivans. We bought a Jeep Commander, and I feel like a bas *** Mom in it.
