They consider themselves "Brides of Christ." Although for the life of me I can't work out the math on that one.

Hello: Roman Catholic nuns are married to Christ when they take their final vows, hence the ring. They are called Brides of Christ. Of course this is symbolic and it is a reference to the last book of the Christian Scriptures called Revelation or the Apocalypse where the entire church is called the Bride of Christ.

They have vowed themselves to be spiritual "Brides" of Christ and have given all that they have , themselves, to do the will of God in the world, as their calling in life. They are to remain celibate unto death. The ring is a sign of the covenant they have made with God.

They go through a ceremony just like the sacrament of marriage. They marry themselves to God. They take vows.

they are married to God, that is what the ring they wear symbolizes...this is a symbolic marriage in the fact that they dedicate their life in service of the Lord...

I think it a thing they do to say they are married to Jesus. I guess since they think he is God and all.
