Quit years ago. It's easy. Go cold turkey. Research has shown that people who use substitutes are more likely to take up the habit again. Drink lots of water and keep your mind and body busy...

Get yourself a book called The Only Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. You can smoke whilst you read it. There are no scare tactics, he just shows smoking for what it is and tries to get you to reverse the brainwashing surrounding smoking. You will infact by the middle of the book get excited about the prospect of not smoking and furthermore will enjoy the process. You could also attend one of his clinics - Raynes Park in Wimbledon

I smoked for 20 years and gave up 2 months ago by willpower. First month was a nightmare, 2nd month hasn't been too bad. If you are going to give it a go good luck.

How many packs a day are you smoking ?
Folks doing over 2 packs need to cut down to 1 pack a day or less
At that point cold turkey, patch, gum etc works

My husband said that he's going to. He has tried gum, patches, zyban.
He's quit about 3 times. Zyban worked but it made his personality change. He was loopy for lack of a better word.
He quit for a year and started again, I wanted to kick his a**!

Not at the moment - I know too many people over 40 who smoked and were perfectly fit and well. They then decided to give up after years of smoking and they now have asthma, cancer, heart attacks etc. I really dont think its a good idea to totally give up after years of smoking cigarettes - cut down maybe but not stop xxx

Just DO IT. Show these weak willed smelly nicotine heads that you have far more willpower than they could ever dream of. If you are really determined then it is NOT impossible. Good luck.
