Well, since you prefer to stifle our answers (except those who agree with your point of view), I'll just take the two points and go home.

Christopher,
God spoke some simple words into my heart over 35 years ago: "Maybe Jesus really did die for your sins" - with those words a transformation took place in my life which I don't suppose I could fully expound if I wrote a book about it. I was a liar - I stopped lying. I was a thief - I stopped stealing. I was a blasphemer - I became a worshiper. I was hateful, ignorant, fearful and hopeless - but all of this changed in a moment. It was not until a year later that I discovered that my experience was already described in the Bible, in the Gospel of John, Chapter 3, where Jesus spoke to a man named Nicodemus about being born again. That's what happened to me - I was born again.
Now I don't say that every time people say "God told me" that it is true, but I assure you, there is a living God who still speaks today.

Dear Chris,

When you read in the newspaper that President Bush said something, that is a transcript of what he said becuae we were not present at the time. It is a record of his words.
The Bible is the word of God. It is exactly what God told men to write down so to preserve it for generations that would come. However, when the Lord gave the words to these men to write down, He did not tell them to add their viewpoint to the script. No, He gave them word for word the message and told them do not add anything or take anything away. For example, read Jeremiah 36:1-4.
So we can say, the Lord says this in Jeremiah 36:1-4...... Maybe you should get a Bible and see what God says. However, many people do not have "ears to hear."

1. Many Christians believe that the bible is literally the word of God. So by quoting it, they are quoting what God said. unfortunately, sometimes they take verses out of context and do not apply the verses correctly. But it is the "word of God".

2. I speak to God all the time, many times a day, in prayer. He hears and He cares.

3. God has spoken to me. He has spoken to others. Sometimes it is through a dream or vision, sometimes it is a voice that is audible. Sometimes it is an interior voice. Sometimes it is more of a strong thought.

4. I'm not lying.

5. god bless!!!

Dear Christopher-

The reason is because the bible is God's Word to us. The bible says: "All scripture is inspired by God..." that means that the Words it contains are His Words.

2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness."

Lies come from Satan who is the Father of lies.
John 8:44 "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

I hope you see the truth Christopher. Jesus loves you and payed a price to save us from the pentalty of sin.

I am an American and have freedom of speech and religion regardless of what you think or understand. That gives me the right whether I or anyone else believes in God or not. I do believe in God and my savior Jesus Christ. Do not even think you have any right telling me what I can and cannot say.

His written word is the Holy Bible- for it is God breathed as it says in 1 Timothy. I believe it- and I know it is HIS word. So I will definately say "God's words" over my own.

God exsists, you have to be in His graces to realize that. As soon as you figure that out you will find that He has a lot to say, not just in the Bible.

I think people use it more in terms of what the Bible says (which all depends on how you interpret it) and to give weight to their point and some people feel that though prayer that God can speak to them its all about how good your relationship with God is
