when i start the car the abs, brakes ,and air bag lights come on, and then i hear a wierd noise come from dash board. when that happens the windows will not go down, and the ac/ heat defog, turn signels all stop working or will not come on at all. if i try one of them then i hear that noise again. since this started two days ago, while i'm driving around twice those lights would go off and everything would work again for a while and then would do it again. what could this be? is it a relay, or fuse, or a vehicle control module?

i was just thinking about how i had a problrm with that area after getting my stereo system installed. the guy used a long screw driver to thread the wires thru, and a couple of weeks went by and then i had to use my windshield wipers and would hear a clunking and felt it in brakes, eventually found screw driver hanging down under dash could that have caused the problem with the ground if thats it, and would i be able to persue the company that installed my stereo?

do you have a tilt steering wheel? if so see if this problem goes away if you leave the steering wheel in the upright position, dodge has had a problem with the wiring in the steering column
and it can effect electrical devices in the vehicle. if the problem
goes away when you do this, take the vehicle to the dealership and have them re-route the wires in the column. if this does not fix the problem, take it to them anyways, it could be a fire hazard on wheels.

i own a repair shop, and it more than likely has a ground wire coming off of it,,this is whats making it do this once in a while ,not all the time,,intrepid are good for loosing ground,so are the cirrus also,,i have had almost new ones in the shop that did this and its just one of those things,,but if it comes all the way loose it may kill the engine, and not start back this happened a while back to one of my customers, and it took lees time to repair it,than it took to get the car here, but that's what id look for,,there are several ground points under the dash area, that's a good place to start,,good luck with it,i hope this help,s,,and have a good x-mas.

It's an electrical distribution box inside the car right underneath the steering wheel. The only persons qualified to test this are the dealer guys they have the proper diagnostic computers to trouble shoot this box. Yes they're also able to find bad grounds through their system. Hope this helps, Jess.

I had an Intrepid and was a member of www.dodgeintrepid.net for a few years. Not trying to plug the website, but the guys on there know their stuff. Try asking there..
