I can ask you anything I want. Asking a citizen a question is NOT against the law. I can't take you to jail for not answering me though. As far as flipping me the bird, you don't want to do that. If I see it, I assure you I WILL find you doing something wrong, legitimately, and I have have a response to your bird. Yes, even if I need to write you a ticket for walking on the wrong side of the road!! :-)

You can be asked anything. Now if they have probable cause they can detain you. As for flipping a cop the bird....GROW UP! What are you in like 4th grade. be a man, act like an adult. Maybe instead of acting like a criminal, or hanging out with known criminlas you should become a viable member of society! These men and women you want to flip off are the same ones you call when your house is robbed. Or your car stolen. DOn't be such a hater. These people have chosen an honest profession and should be congratulated. GROW UP!

Well, it depends.Stopping you will in no way violate the 4th amendment so they can stop you if they want basically. It isn't a search or a seizure and isn't covered by the 4th amendment so no justification is needed. However, if you are stopped and frisked they need reasonable suspicion x 2-one for the stop and one for the seizure. ANYTHING beyond a frisk-they need Probable Cause. The police can ask whatever they want-its really up to you on answering. If you are not under arrest, you should unless you will be incriminating yourself.Because if you don't then the court will just wonder why would you have a problem answering them.If you are under arrest, you are not obligated to answer questions especially if you do not have a lawyer.

What are you hiding? What have you done that you are afraid the police will find out? Certainly a policeman can stop you at random and talk to you. If they catch you with something illegal, they may have to let you go because they didn't have probable cause to stop you.
Why would you want to make an obscene gesture at a policeman? Don't you realize that without police, robbers, rapists, murders, and other vile criminals would operate with impunity? Well, maybe you fall into that category, that is the only reason I could think of that you would want to do that.

Actuall they can ask almost anything they want. You can flip them the bird if you want, but don't expect them to not pull you over or stop you anyway. As for pulling you over, the 'suspicious vehicle' phrase floors me every time. Yeah right! Unless it's gender specific (sexual), then it's all up for grabs.

It may be hard for some people to understand but police are people too. Meaning, they have power. Ive met people who the the police that let someone slide on a Domestic Battery charge, then other stories of a policeman taking a guy to jail for Jay walking.
Dont piss off the cops. If you think about it, its you and the police officer. Who are the judge and officials going to believe? He could have said you had cocaine and you wouldnt have been able to do ****.

no you can be a "winner" and flip them off, just don't forget, that they save your *** when you're getting robbed or raped! They need probable cause to "stop" you but they can talk with you, just like any other person on the street. Maybe you should check your consience... would you flip off a soldier or a fireman?

I know people who have been escorted to the station for flipping off a cop of on the highway. They can use anything as "probable" cause. Good luck, you're up against "the man".
