The method described by "a person" works.
2 other ways are below below, the first way uses formulas. If you don't want to type formulas use the second way.
1. Enter all the numbers in a column, for this example enter them in column "C" starting at row 5 and ending on row 14. In row 15 type the following equation, =AVERAGE(C5:C14) and hit enter. That calculates and posts the average in cell 15.
2. Enter the numbers in a column, will take up 10 rows.
Click on the open cell below the last number you enter. Then up on your tool bar look for the sumation symbol, it looks like the letter E but its a greek letter.
A pop up menu should appear after you click the sum symbol, select the option "average". Then hit the enter key to imput the formula in the cell.
Both methods not only average your numbers, if you change any of the numbers it will automatically recalculate the new average for you.

You can find the average of those number with the formula below:
=avg(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10)
By the way, the answer to it is 5.5.
