...My theory is the chicken..and i'll tell you why...
i think that millions of years ago one of the living been that populated the ocean had to evolve in a land been for surviving....and the nature give to it a way of reproducing itself in a "safe way" from predators...so the only way was the eggs.....
and there you have my theory...
