Buy a nice basket and fill it with things they like...like desserts and candies, snacks, tea's with nice mugs and you could throw in a gift card to a nice restaurant for a dinner for two. You get the idea.

We always get my in laws (also in their 70's) a gift pack from Omaha steaks. Great food!! They love it.

DVD, answering machine, gift certificate to a expensive resturant, matching slippers, or matching pj's let them feel like teenagers again.

Get them several gift certificates to different places to eat and maybe to the movies.

i have given the life mag from the week they were born to 2 acquaintances who've grew to grow to be 50. i'm attaching the link I used to order. The presents went over o.k.. low-budget, too.
