I have a friend who is kinda silly and does stupid stuff, and today he said he had a bomb in his shoe, (classic dumb move for him) and a teacher overheard him, and the police, ambulence, firetrucks, and state officials all came and he got in alot of trouble. However, he's not a trouble maker and has a clean record.
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?
Did he deserve it?
What punishment would you give him?
How long do you think I should wait before I call him?

Me and him are in the 8th grade, and I wansn't there when it happened, and from what I gathered, he was talking about terrorism and how people are getting so worked up about it nowadays when he made the joke, which make is pretty ironic, lol.

Another thing, he likes to mock / make parodies of people, so it's possible he was doing an impression of a terrorist at the time.

I think adults are over reacting. Kids can't be kids anymore.

Unfortunately, after the shooting at Columbine, and even in the post 9-1-1 era, school administrators choose not to take chances in these situations. There may even be a policy at your school which requires faculty and staff to report these incidents to law enforcement. On the other hand, there may also be a school rule that prohibits its students from making any kind of threat toward others or the school. Most states have laws that make it a criminal offense to make a false report of a bomb threat, which is what occurred here.
Your friend is definitely going to be subject to some type of disciplinary or criminal action. You are asking, "Does he deserve it?" In some sense, he does need to learn a good lesson about being careful about the things he does and the things he says. I am positive that the school will make an example of him, and I am certain that a suspension is being considered, if not an expulsion.
As far as law enforcement is concerned, this case will warrant some action through your local juvenile court. Given the fact that many public resources were utilized to deal with this situation, your friend will be looking at some type of probation, community service requirements, and his parents may be required to reimburse the local government for the incurred expenses.
Now is not the time to call your friend. He needs to be by himself so that he can think about what he has done. His parents are probably keeping him at home and have taken away his privileges, including use of the phone. I would wait until tomorrow after school to call him.

In this day and age, with all of the things that have happened since 9-11, things such as this are no laughing matter. Even if he was joking, he needs to understand that things like this are no longer taken as lightly as they once were.
In some places, depending upon where you live, this can be charged as a terroristic threat. I am assuming this is a juvenile, correct? Laws differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction with regards to this.
I am sure he was frightened to no end, and maybe this was punishment enough, who knows? Hopefully he has learned his lesson though.

That is total crap. The teacher should have alked over to him. Looked in his shoe and said " O there's no bomb " I tell you people are way too tight these days. it was jsut a freakin joke. lol let it slide. No he didn't deserve that although he'll probably be the talk of the school for months to come.
O and I would call him now. there's nothing to be ashamed of. it was a misunderstanding.
lol and there should be any punishment although someone might wanna tell him to pull his head out of his butt.

This was an incredibly stupid thing to do. The county/state can sue him for wasting resources (police, ambulance, firetrucks, etc.). Getting all those people mobilized costs a lot of money.

Given all that's going on in schools these days, what he did was incredibly stupid. I absolutely think he deserved it because the schools just can't take chances. No one can afford to take chances now. As to his punishment, I really have no idea. I think it should fit the crime, but I'm not sure what that would be. He needs something that will make an impression on him, however. I don't think you should call him until you're sure thinks have calmed down a little. I doubt his parents would welcome your call right now. They all have enough going on.

well i believe that he should get some type of punishment.so yes he does.just for the simple fact that people just recently died in NY.all the recent shootings.death my friend is everywhere we look.so it would be nice to know that your generation will have more respect for life.playing games like that are not very funny to the families that have lost love ones to bombs.you should call him as soon as he can receive calls.and tell how dumb that really was but be sincere so he gets the point.and trys to keep himself out of trouble.trouble doesnt need any help finding anyone.be smart boys.

i kinda think that every1 is totally blowing this outta proportion. now, of coarse it was a dumb move on his part, and he should get in trouble for it. probably like a 2-3 day suspension. i only say that because look at Columbine. the dude who brought the gun 2 school told some1 he would, but they didn't believe. and then it happened. but since they guy had a clean record and no bomb in his shoe, i don't think they should put him in jail or expel him for it.

You friend sounds like he needs lots of attention and tries to get it any way he can. But...he's only getting Negative Attention by doing what he did and you are 100% going to get in the same trouble his is in by hanging out with him. He needs some counselling for his problems, and that's something that's obvious. But there's no shame in asking for help. You might want to start looking for some other friends too. Even if you don't do anything wrong, merely by hanging around with him you are going to be labelled as a troublemaker like his is. The term is called 'Guilty By Association'. Good Luck! :)

This woman is actual no chum of yours. a real chum does not make relaxing of you in front of your friends. Her little trick of imitating you and then giggling approximately it shows all of them that that's okay to chortle at you. Going after a guy which you like is her way of exhibiting you that she is greater advantageous to you. that may not the act of a pal. You already say that her strikes are stupid and stressful. possibly it's time to spend time with people who're not stupid and stressful and who surely such as you and understand the thank you to be acquaintances.

With the world being what it is that was really dumb. You know that he didn't mean it and friends are hard to come by. I think you should stand by him. He probably needs to hear from you right now. Maybe you should carry an extra sock with you for the next time he opens his mouth.
