i am always the one starting the conversations, and he usually replies nicely or with something funny but i dont know what to say next its driving me NUTS...i just stand there looking like an idiot

Conversations can be so difficult! Just try sticking with the topic you start with, but if his reply doesn't make any sense to you or isn't easy to respond to, think of a new topic. If that doesn't work, maybe you should talk to someone else...

Some guys naturally don't talk a whole lot. Other times, it's because they don't know what to say.
Tell him a story about yourself, especially if you are reminded of it by something around you. Say you go out to eat, tell him what you remember about the first time you went out to eat as a kid. Maybe he'll respond in kind.
Everyone has lots of stories to tell about themselves. It's just a matter of thinking of appropriate ones at that moment.

You can talk about anythink, for example how were your day. What are you doing this weekend. Just talk about anything.
