what is the confarmational test in ELISA ? and what is the difference between this type and the standard ELISA test system ? PLEASE HELP.

Hi there !
ELISA is a technique in which so many diseases are being diagnosed nowadays.
Ultimately, it indicates the presence of an antigen or an antibody in the patients blood sample.
In "standard ELISA", there could be 'cross rections' between two proteins of similar structure ..eg: if we are looking for an antibody of a disease in the blood sample, if there is another protein present similar in structure, there could be interactions leading to a reaction and hence a "false positive reaction" !
In "confirmatory test" the chances of a "false positive reaction" is avoided. and it is confirmatory..
