So............... If I am understanding this right, all the hype of everyone trying to take the christ out of christmas and and the using of xmas has got on your little old nerves? Well, to begin with you are too involved with the whole media thing to listen to anyone else. For instance when I was younger no one had a problem with the Happy Holidays signs in store windows but now people go off the deep end because it does not say merry christmas so what has really changed? Only the media's take on the holidays that's all. Plus some one got on their high horse and came up with all these cute little sayings like don't take christ out of christmas and jesus is the reason for the season, Oh puleeze! There is nothing there but an ad man's slogans for something that is easy to sell to the ignorant. oh and for the record I do not capitalize christ or christmas or xmas

no, perhaps we should bring it back to what it originally was. Yule.
the tree, the holly, the mistletoe, the eating of ham, the giving of presents all derived from a holliday called yule, derived from pagan holliday and traditions.
10 bucks says u didnt know christ wasnt actually born on december 25th, but december 25th is the day believed to be the winter solstice, and thus celebrated for that.
like always chrisitans are taught by older christians, who never look anything up and research it. you dont know the meaning behind anything. 10 bucks says u also didnt know that noah had 7 pairs of certain animals, not just 2. so the 2 by 2 story is a lie as well.

i guess you got alot of jerks answering this one, they failed to realize the sentiment you were trying to put forth. it is plain that you were emphasizing the CHRIST in Christmas. some people fail to see that not everyone is a scholar in Greek and by now almost everyone these days knows that Christmas stemmed from a pagan holiday, although it isn't the exact day of his birth it is a wonderful commemoration of the birth of our savior. i am glad that Christianity took a pagan holiday and made the date a celebration of something worth while. either way Christ does rock and i will be celebrating the commemoration of his birth.

That is the popular version, but Xmas has it's own legitimacy arising from a very long *Christian* history.
Of course you are fighting for your version of Christmas against the tide of other sentiments, and items like:
"The Bratz Advent Calendar".
(at least it counts down to Christmas day... I've seen some this year counting all the way to New Year!)

I'm a Christian who often uses the Greek letter Chi (X) as an abbreviation for my Lord, the Christ--just like I often use the Greek letter Theta as an abbreviation for God (Theos). So I don't have a problem using Xmas (pronounced Chi-mas).

I would rather have it called Celebration of Jesus Birthday. Christmas is for Christ's mass, which is catholic orienated, and its offense to many Christians that know that.
x mas is evil. removes the Christ from Christmas.
Noone knows the exact date of Jesus birth. and almost all associated with Christmas is so pagan and is repulsive. We just celebrate the day of our Lords birth, as well as His life, death and resurrection, as therin lie OUR BLESSED HOPE.
On Easter, we do not celebrate Easter, its pagan, and we dont get into their customs either. k
We take that day as our own, and we celebrate the resurrection of our risen Lord. But, we dont celebrate Easter. If more Christians knew the truth about the pagan meaning to the symbolds of Christmas, they would have no part in it either. LIght and darkness do not mix. truth and lie do not mix.
We just celebrate Jesus every day , and makes it all so much easier. Look at Christmas today, and even easter. all about buying, materialism, getting, going into debt, eating too much and usually drinking too much booze, and even celebrating in the method of the pagan customs. that pleases GOD/////?? I think not. But, it is up to each of us to study this and deceide for ourself what we think honors Jesus. Great question..

Sooooo, you think we should introduce a minus sign in there? Christ minus Mas...the antithesis to the Catholic faith!
Or do you mean capitalize CHRIST? That's just silly. Do you just want to keep CAPS LOCK on?

No... you should probably spell and pronounce it Christ Mass...
Then us non believers who celebrate it as a family focused occasion can be celebrating Christmas, officially two different wordages and setting.

Do you want everyone to say it that way too? Yell CHRIST then whisper mas?
That would be fun. I'm going to try it. I'll get funny looks, but what the hell.

Why not Xmas? It means exactly the same thing, it was started by a Christian, in fact the 'X' is the Greek letter 'Chi' which was the first pronounced letter in the word 'Christos', 'annointed one'.
You might want to understand a thing before you rant about a thing.
