I'm not contradicting the other posters, because if the stuff they recommended worked, then they are worth a try. I never used any of those products. When we bought this house, I could tell exactly where the last owners had kept their litterbox. It was worse on damp days. I used Febreeze Antimicrobial. I didn't just politely spray it on the spot. I took the top off the bottle and poured it on the spot to get it way down and into the pad. That is the problem with carpet. You can treat the surface, but it's very hard to get to the pad and wood floor beneath. The Febreeze worked for me. Just another alernative for you to consider for the odor.
For the stains, the best thing I've found (misbehaving grand dog) is a thing called Spot Shot. It comes in a blue bottle and is with carpet cleaners at the grocery store. It takes car of dog pee smell too. I dont know about cat pee. That is a whole other issue. That is what I used the Febreeze for.

I have had experience with cat odor before! If is very hard to get out! If it is on your furniture you need to put your furniture outside and let it air out a little bit, and spray it with fresheners. One way to get stains out of the carpet is to buy an electric carpet cleaner. It should work. it worked for me anywayz. i hope i helped you out some!
