They probably gave you a long lasting anesthetic which can last up to 8 or 10 hours. I would take the pain medicine right now just so it's in your system once the anesthetic wears off. If you continue to feel numb in a couple days, go back to your oral surgeon, there may have been some nerve damage. Just eat soft, cool foods tonight. Yogurt, ice cream, pudding. No popsicles because you shouldn't suck on anything. Don't rinse, spit, or suck on anything for 24 hours. This can remove the blood clot which would cause a dry socket. After this, you should rinse with warm salt water after eating for one week. Don't use listerine or anything like that, too harsh. You can start eating regular food when you feel ready. Stay away from chips, peanuts, popcorn or anything that has sharp edges for a while. You don't want anything stuck in those holes. You can use an ice pack on and off all day today to help with swelling. Tomorrow if you notice any swelling, use a heat pack. Also, try to keep your head elevated today and tonight. Don't lie flat on a bed. Keep a lot of pillows behind you or stay on a couch. Hope that helps.
Oh, I wouldn't eat any cereal tonight. maybe oatmeal? Just not too hot. In a couple days you should be fine.

This is just the after effect of the Anasthetic. It should calm down in a few hours. If the numbness persists over a few days it may be nerve damage, so make sure you get in touch with your dentist. You may have pain when it wears off, make sure you have some painkillers or neurofen. As for the cereal (make it soft!) best to wait another 24 hours or so and eat on your good side! Hope this helps.

You're feeling numbness because the roots of your wisdom teeth are touching the nerves that connect to the rest of your teeth and the rest of your mouth. When your wisdom teeth were pulled it may have cause a temporary numb feeling in part of your face. It's most likely nothing to worry about. But if it last for more than a week, I'd ask the dentist about it.

I was numb in my chin area for a good day or so. I also had a lot of bleeding; around 3 days. It'll get better. Just remember to take your pain meds every few hours and ice your face for 20 minutes then remove the ice and keep following that schedule - it will majorly help with swelling. Good luck - feel better :D

I was numb the whole rest of the day. Might want to start taking a pain pill at the slightest amount of discomfort you get. It will be a few days before you are likely to eat any cereal.

i was in your position a few months ago and i wasn't worried about the numbness because i was too drugged to stay awake.
remember that you were given an anesthetic and it's going to that a while for it to wear off. if it persists for days, then a nerve was probably damaged during surgery (something you should have been told in your consultation).
you shouldn't feel too much pain when the numbness wears off if you have been taking your pain meds.
as for cereal, i didn't eat solid foods for a few days. you'll know when you're ready.
remember to rinse your mouth.

It is common that people with their wisdom teeth removed are in pain after the removal. It might take at least 12 hours to be gone if bleeding stops. You might can eat tomorrow.

You should feel pain for a few days. Takemotrin or ibuprofen for the pan you could possibly eat soggy cereal by the morning. Hope you feel better.

It took me several days (and pain meds) to get back to normal, though I had only two removed. The numbness you are experiencing is common. Your mouth has sustained some trauma and requires time to heal.
