Yes. They harbor dirt and grime. When you lie your face on them, you are picking up the excess dirt and you can trap it in the pores of your skin.
Wash your bedding frequently.

Yes! Think about it, your hair and skin gets greasy throughout the day and you may even put gels or hairspray in it. Then everynight you put all that on your pillow when you sleep. Most of us dont wash our pillowcases everynight so this just keeps accumulating. Then you put your face on that same pillow and wonder why you keep breaking out over and over again.
As an esthetician, I take it to a bit of an extreme. I lay a clean t-shirt down on my pillow everynight before bed. Problem solved.

Laying on your pillow and sheets causes them to absorb and contract the oils and impurities from your hair and body. When your face comes in contact with the oils left on the pillow cases, it will transfer back onto your face. This causes your pores to clog and bacteria to grow inside your pores.
This can be avoided very easily.
1. Wash your hair before you go to sleep, instead of in the morning, after you wake up.
2. Change your pillow cases weekly, or flip and rotate the pillow you mainly sleep on.
3. If you wash your hair every other day, wear a Kirchhoff, do-rag or something covering your hair, to keep the oils from getting on your pillow case. (yes boys too)
4. Be sure to wash your face before you go to sleep and when you wake up in the morning. Your oil glands work all nite and should be cleansed every morning to keep your pores from clogging. This will keep the oil and dirt you came in contact with during the night from clogging pores and from causing bacteria.
Basically the oils our body produces are our skins worst enemy, keep your skin clean and take precautions and your skin will be more healthy.

It depends on how old and dirty it is and how prone you are to acne infection.
Yes. It can if you have very acne tempermental skin. It harbors dirt, bacteria and oil. Once a week is sufficient for someone who doesn't break out, but for the acne sufferer, every other day, if not every day is a good idea to change the pillow case.

You can get pimples from just letting your face go dirty. When your pores clog on your face, shoulders or back, you will experience these little pop-ups due to lack of cleanliness and poor hygiene. Dirty linen and clothes will contribute and play a factor to these undesirable manifestations!

Yes, especially with the pillow, your face is on it and the dirt has a lot of time to go deep into your pores.
