Does anyone have an idea how many calories are burned while actually riding a horse for approximetly an hour? I've heard anywhere from 116 to 450 per hour from different sources.

I really guess it would depend on the type of riding. If it's simply trail riding, probably not so many. But if you were doing something like roping, barrels, jumping, eventing, etc. you would probably burn more.

If life were fair, horses would ride 1/2 of the time! Now that would burn some calories!

Yes I had been horseback driving. In reality whilst I used to be younger, I found out within the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. I wasn't scared one bit, however as my sister and I had been looking to come down from the mountains, the pony she wasn't on would not transfer, so I needed to support get her down as good as myself. I LOVE horses, however do not possess one!
