If sex is your only goal, then yes paying a prostitute is by far the more ethical choice. Leading a woman on and letting her get emotionally involved when you are not interested in her for anything other than sex is just cold.
Why not just let a woman know up front that you are just looking for sex?... some women are too ya know, and it will save everyone a lot of hassle and disappointment

Go Raina and True Brit. Nothing says that you will gain sexual gratification from a woman for taking her out to dinner and a movie. While some educated people do liken marriage and dating to prostitution, this is unlikely given that most American women nowadays insist on equality in relationships. Wake up to the modern world. What happens when a woman picks up the tab (or at least pays her own way) on the date? If sex follows a woman treating to dinner, should we call the man a prostitute? HHHHMMMM. And something tells me that as many wives make more money than husbands nowadays, that we could also see men as the prostitutes in marriage. Then what would power hungry, yet weak and feeble "men", think about legalizing prostitution? Again, saying things like no man ... or no woman ... is generalizing. You cannot speak for everybody. Sex is not so important to every man. Not every woman finds material "offerings" sexually attractive. Nor does every woman rely on a man for what he can offer materially, or even value it. I, for one, am empowered by being able to provide myself with the material things I need. And I do not find rich, white collar business men attractive. I have many female friends who are like myself. I agree with the others that you have insecurity issues and a low self worth if you think that that is the only reason women will continue to sleep with you.

Prostitution IS legal - well here in the UK it is - under certain conditions anyway.
Why does it matter - the morals of it? Do what you think is best. Its your money, and your morals.
Personally i can't see anything wrong in paying for sex. You get sex, the working girl gets the money and both of you are happy.
If you really take girls out a few times with the only intention of having sex with her and not caring about her emotions at all, then i have to say that I find that morally wrong. But it is up to the girl involved to find out your intentions and if she is not happy then she should not have sex with you.
Everyone has to look out for themselves.

morals is a personal issue i think and staying on that theme i think getting a prostitute. unless your a different sort of man you really wouldn't want to take her out for dinner sex her then dump her, cause at the end of the day, it's still you treating her like a prostitute only thing is one of them she don't get paid. in reference to your last statement, go to Amsterdam, i'm sure the girls would love you.

Both actions aren't good things to do in the first place. However, to answer your question, I think paying a prostitute is much more moral.

You don't need a prostitute all you need to do is learn to communicate. There are a lot of women out there that don't want relationship all they want is sex. Just say it in the beginning if she is not down with it don't call her anymore there's someone else out there who will be.

I'm not going to be all judgemental on you because I can see some parallels with my situation (which is disturbing me somewhat). Perhaps if you are upfront with the girl about what you want - she may just want sex too - don't assume that this woman wants a relationship with you.
By the way, are you in the business of donating sperm to worthy causes?

i think that if you found a girl who was just looking for sex and not a relationship would be a better choice. that way it is an understanding between the two of you that it is just sex, plus if she gets emotionally attached you really have no reason to feel bad about it because it was verbally agreed that it is just sex..

why bother getting her emotionally involved if you only plan to use her and then throw her away? That is premeditated cruelty. That is why there are hookers for you to abuse. That's why you have to pay for it, because there's no other reason anyone would want to have sex or become involved with a monster like you.
