Hi! Thank you in advance for taking time with me ...and Merry Christmas, too!

First of all, do you like wall-to-wall carpeting?
How often do you have it cleaned.... I guess that would depend upon where you live... but do you have a service come in and clean it for you?

Second, do you prefer wool or is a synthetic or a blend acceptable ?...Which is more comfortable on bare feet, especially in the summer ( when I do go barefoot indoors ) ?

Is sisal matting hard on bare feet? It comes in such nice colors ... I am tempted...

Have you ever had a carpet or a braided rug in the kitchen?

i never had a carpet in the kitchen and i dont think i would want one. it is very messy and hard to clean when the carpet gets dirty. you should try useing the astrailian wood flooring. if you have children its going to be difficult to be waisting money cleaning the carpet once in a while. ask your self a ? do you have enough money to waist on cleaning the carpet. however, i would perfer wool because it feels good on your bare feet. the wool is worm during the winter and feels cool during the summer, if you have you ac on all the time.

i helped my parents put carpet in a room in our house. it was some kind of wine red and i put a border on the edges of the carpet, on the wall part, becasue it makes it saty in place and keeps it from lifting up.

well take care and Merry X-Mas to you too. have fun!!

if i like wall to wall carpeting i would say no because i live in a warm climate in Texas i have carpet in the bed room's only now as far as what type of carpet it depends on you wool carpet will stain much easier than any other and sisal carpet is hard to keep clean the best thing is nylon with tactease fiber with soft back that's real soft and very comfortable on the feet i have in my house and I'm a carpet dealer so what ever you chose do you're home work and good luck

p.s. the manufacturer on carpet recommend that you clean twice a year no more that's steam clean

I prefer nylon carpet as the thread is spun out thinner than wool so it feels much softer. I like Polypropylene carpets for the fact that the kids can't stain them no matter how hard they try.

I hate Sisal and Seagrass as it's rough, slippery and if you get a lot of condensation running down a patio door the damn stuff can get mildew.

I like wool in a carpet but we have pets, the wool tends to hold the smell of wet dog more (Lanolin)

With regards to cleaning the carpet the answer is less is better. People use too much soap and when the water is gone the soap acts like a sticky residue.

Most important point when getting a new carpet is get the best underlay you can possibly lay your hands on !!!

I usually go 80/20 Wool for bedrooms and lounge. That way you get a hardwearing carpet which is not too hard on the feet. Pure wool carpets can be a bit harsh and you dont get the same richness of colour. I have a 100% wool carpet on my stairs though because it is more hardwearing and its cream so I didnt need colour. Its not very soft though but its wearing well. Hope this helps

Nylon would be best.

I don't like berber as it's not soft on the feet, and many do not wear well.

Most carpet manufactures recommend professional cleaning once a year to maintain the warranty.

Depending on how much traffic you have you may want that area done twice a year, like in the family room.

Go with a owner operated company in your area that has been around for awhile. Ask friends, co workers or realtives who have carpet who they use.

Nothing better than a refferral, you know that someone is happy with their work.

I use a local company that has been in business for over 60 years, the son is now doing it since the father retired. He still does my mother's house, that's how I got him.
