He is pretty shy and fun to be around...but i dont really know him too well...just a few chats now and then. Should i ask him? if so how can i do it so it isnt that weird?

If this guy is as shy as you say, it's not likely that he'll get up the guts to ask you out, even if he does like you a whole lot. So just go for it - ask him to go see a movie with you, go bowling, or some other activity that you enjoy and think he would, too. If you go to a movie, though, may I recommend that you see something funny and not a sappy chick flick - those can be awkward, especially for first dates.
To minimize any potential embarrassment factor, don't ask in front of a large group of people. Ultimately, no matter what happens, you're more likely to be glad you asked instead of letting yourself keep wondering. Good luck!

With a girl, it really isn't very complicated. Simple and easy, tell him "when are you going to ask me out?" No pressure or akwardness. Good luck!

Christmas would be a good opportunity to ask him out. Ask him to accompany you to the mall to do some shoppings would be a good start.

I don't think girls should ask guys out at all. If they like you enough, they wil ask you out sooner or later. You are way to good to not be asked out by him.
