I have a new apartment with vaulted ceilings and HUGE, EMPTY, BORING walls and a very minimalistic budget. I enjoy crafts and have a few ideas... but need some more. too much wall space to cover. My furniture is Somewhat modern vistorian (The stuff you see at Bombay...) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

a friend of mine had a big loft appt. similar to yours with vaulted ceilings. she got a hold of some old stained glass windows from a church at the demolition store (habitat for humanity) she put them up about 4" out from the wall and put battery operated lights behind them. very cool.she also put uplight torches in the corners behind some gigantic vases filled with bare tree branches. one wall was completely filled with about 20 or 30 empty picture frames of various sizes and styles which she painted all one color ( i think it was black) she got these frames really cheap from flea markets and garage sales. there was also a huge open-backed shelving unit that was also pulled out a few inches from the wall and had uplighting behind it.

dont know if any of these ideas are within your means, but hope they inspire you a bit

I have vaulted ceilings, too, and it is difficult to decorate the walls so that it doesn't look awkward. Try going to a dollar store and getting a variety of different picture frames, all shapes and sizes. Remove the glass and spray paint all the frames the same color. Black works well, or gold. Now fill them with pictures of whatever you like... friends and family, abstract artwork, whatever strikes your fancy. You can arrange them all on an odd shaped wall to fill up that angle from the ceiling.

Good luck decorating!

How about building an inexpensive frame from pine and covering with a really neat print fabric? Big, bold and use of a print that expresses your taste and color scheme .

A great way to cover large areas is with a rug...there are several ways to hang it. You can us a staple gun, or you can purchase a curtain rod with hardware and use it, to connect the rug you can attach material to the back of the rod to form a pocket and thread the rod through it.
