I am wondering about the experiences of people who have had cervical cancerous legions and cervix removed, and went five years with no recurrence. Thanks. Not worried too much - I had it removed 1 year ago - but I kind of avoid thinking about it at all.

Hi. I had cervical cancer (carcinoma insitu- stage0) when I was 23 years old. Mine covered too large of an area to be removed by the Leep procedure, so I had a cold knife conozation to remove it. For the next two years, I had to undergo paps every three months. Now, I go every six months. I am 30 now and still cancer free. Hope that is encouraging for you. Make sure not to miss your paps!

If this helps any, my grandmother had cervical cancer about 40 years ago and was cured (even back then). She lived to be a ripe old age (in her 70's).
