I can't help feeling we've helped an awful lot of people to find out that Christmas is a Pagan festival. Now they're asking about Easter (Pagan again).

And they keep asking about evolution so one or two of them must have picked up that it is not about chance. Some might even have an idea what is meant by allele frequencies.

And I think those who had never encountered an atheist have learned that we don't ALL eat babies.

What do you think?

Incidentally, I'm not one of these people who says "If you aren't an xxxxxx please don't answer this question!!!!" - anyone with an opinion is free to express it.

I, as a Theist with an opinion, can only answer for myself in saying I already knew about the things you mentioned. I do, however, think most folks come to Y!Answers with their world view firmly entrenched (whether Theist or non) so it's debatable as to how much learning goes on here.

The things I've learned about most here are not Athiesm (I already knew about it), but rather more unique religions to my experience such as Christian mysticism, Taoism, etc. And also the extreme hate/intolerance that's out there--especially from a few of the Athiests--was a little surprising (I already knew about the hate element of some of the other religions).

I havn't been here long, but I learned something new about dinosaurs last night. Maybe some people are taking the best of answers to incorporate into a new world church or something. I don't know, and don't care. God knows what everyone is doing anyway. This is a good forum for people to widen out thier minds, and I believe it is helping a good many.

But Bad Liberal,
I LOVE our pagan festival.
: (
And honest to God, I really didn't know you didn't eat babies! Phew, thanks for clearing that up.
And evolution . . . I'm still a little unnerved by it to be honest. If not by chance, then how did life come to earth according to the theory?
I don't know. I'm a Theist and I've looked on the other side of the fence and I didn't see anything I wanted.

Christmas, as celebrated by pagans, is a pagan festival.

Christmas, as celebrated by Christians, is a time to remember the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The delusional mind is a difficult thing to reach. I can only hope that some seeds of doubt have been planted and or fertilized so they can reach their own maturity in the search for actual truth.

Read maybe, but I'm not sure how much is retained since I keep seeing the same questions about us over and over.

I hope they have learned. I hope we are able to plant some doubt in there blind faith. I do think most just keep ignoring science and history. Most only care about defending there faith not finding some real answers.

Blind radicals on both sides won't learn a thing. Everyone else will.
