Hey girl.... honestly, I live in Queens and even though Queens and Long Island are geographically on the same geographical body of land, I think I speak for most people when I say that we don't feel like a part of Long Island at all. Long Island is more suburban it where Queens generally feels more gritty, more urban and congested. Also, there are more minorities in Queens than in Long Island as well.
I hope that answered you question.
P.S. I lived in Bamburg Germany for 3 years and Bad Kreuznach for a summer. I loved it there. :o) Gutten Tag

Your looking for this question to be answered but to be honest with you, the reason it may never have been answered is because queens doesn't have the same feel as long island or the city. Yet it is one of the five boroughs and yes it is very close to long island and all you need to do to get there is go on the cross island... but queens just doesn't make you feel like you belong to the island or the city. It feels different than both - totally different kind of living than both.

Queens is a borough of New York City therefore all people of queens belong to New York City, Long Island is a completely different city. Also, people of Queens County are not of New York City; but people of Queens are. Queens is a place in the city where people go to raise their kids; then when the kids are older they go back to Manhattan.

Queens is culturally much different than the city. Many two-family homes and parks. The city has lots of apartments and high rises/ Sort of ghetto in some parts of Queens, and it has a reputation [[even though I think there's nothing wrong with it]]. Its geographically close to Long Island if NOT ON Long Island. But i don't know a might be a little innacurate i don't live in Queens. Thank GOD! Lol j/k

All the people on the Island of Queens put on their swimsuits and bath in the sun all winter long. That is where the people from NY go to get away from the cold and snow. AAHHH.....The island of Queens. What a joy!!!

People who live in Queens commute to NY for work. It is a short ferry ride away. It is like living in the suburbs of any city. Living outside of Munich. Different town...Close...Very close....

They drive into the city at night for shows and restaurants. Longer to drive, but at night it is hard to take a ferry.

My puppy pig Napoleon thinks it is loopy that he cannot put on his crimson scorching pants out whilst consuming together with his fish peers on a Sunday. At least that is what I suppose he stated, such a lot of it used to be in French.

We are a borough of NYC, not the Island.
