will the avocados ripe by Saturday? They have put them in a brown bag yesterday

Put them on top of your refrigerator and make sure the paper bag is closed well. The heat from your fridge will accelerate the release of the ripening gasses in the avocados and they should be good to go. One caution--don't open the bag until you are ready to use them, because the gasses will be released and all your effort will be for nought.

How ripe are they now? Hard as a rock or softer than that?
They might be ripe enough to be edible but not great. Try storing them in a warm location (80 degrees F).
