Cannot:
Lillies
potatoes
chocolate (some cats tolerate a little better than others, I'd stay away from it)
cooked chicken bones
milk (older cats have a tough time digesting it)
Can:
wet and dry cat food
wheat grass
other stuff, be sensible, no spicy food, or things like that.
Grass is fine, they eat it as a digestive aid.
Oil is fine, it helps them pass hairballs, and makes their hair shiny. I use mineral oil, 1 teaspoon every week or so.
You'll do fine!

It is not true that you cannot feed a cat vegitarian foods. I know that you can indeed feed a cat oatmeal, noodles with bits of meat, scrambled eggs, and many other things that come off the table.
My cat has a craving for beer and chili, so around super bowl time is when he gets to have it. We don't give him much, but enough to satisfy his craving for it.
You can feed your cats things like that but if that is what you want them to eat for a long period of time, you must start them on it as kittens so they can know the taste. Or if you have an older cat you can scrape some of it on the inside of its lower jaw or on its nose so that it can taste what you are offering it.

Onions are very toxic for cats. They are in the nightshade family. Garlic is given to cats and I don't think that is wise (same nightshade family). Tomatoes and all parts of the tomato plant are toxic for cats.
Cats are obligate carnivores and will die before they eat plant material. People should realise that and not stuff their cats full of corn.
