Jesus' disciples saw Jesus rise from the dead, therefore they didn't have faith that he was risen...they knew it. Therefore is faith more important than truth?

Actually, Jesus' disciples did not see Him rise from the dead. They saw him ascend into heaven.

You need to have faith to believe in the TRUTH who is Jesus. That is like asking if you need the brain or the heart more.

As at least one other answerer has stated, they did not see Jesus rise from the dead. They did, however, see Him RISEN, and did watch Him ascend into heaven. And even though people may see miracles, they can quickly forget them when things aren't going as planned later on, ignore them, continue looking ahead and making themselves available to God in order that He might preform even more! The latter, of course, is the better option. The disciples still needed faith to get though each day. Without faith, we cannot please God. In addition, even seeing one's Savior risen from the dead and ascending into heaven does not guarantee by any means that one will be this super-Christian who needs no faith. No, day-by-day faith in God, faith that He will get you through trials, answer prayers, be with you, and love you is needed throughout the life of a Christian. God bless!

Hebrews 11:6 NIV
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

That's a good question.
They still had to have some faith before he did come back from the dead. Remember when they were on the choppy waters and Peter and the others were worried? Jesus told them to have faith in that he would save them from dying that way.

They needed faith for other things. For example they were told that the good news of the kingdom would be preached throuhout the entire earth and they were such a small group. They needed faith to get started in a work that woud not be finished in their lifetime. Matthew 24:14

No, you still need faith. Even the false religious leaders saw Jesus do many miracles but the still would not believe. The bible says that the just shall live by faith.

Dear Recon:

The disciples had a "rough go of it." First, our human experience tells us that when we learn under a teacher, it takes time to digest what we have been taught. Sometimes what we are taught is not fully understood in our Intellect - but does INTRIGUE us! So, we think upon it, ponder it, and go through a process that eventually brings us to understand fully what the teacher meant. This takes time.

Jesus did not have a great deal of time in which to teach. He was limited to such a short life, and , just one to three years, at the end of it was used to instruct the disciples. Such a brief amount of time. I think the disciples could not "get enough" of what he spoke to them, but it took longer than the time Jesus had available on Earth - for them to truly come to a deep knowledge of what he meant. We learn on different levels. First class is level 1. Next class is level 2. Finally, we graduate integrating what we were taught ! So it was with them.

A movie I saw recently depicted that for the first 8 years after Jesus had left us, the disciples were spiritually disheartened. They were living in terrible fear of the Romans and of anyone knowing their whereabouts. The stress factor depicted in the movie was heartbreaking. The movie claimed that the disciples, even when Peter finally rejoined them 8 years later, after his imprisonment, really didn't seem to know what to do and how to get started and where to begin ! They seemed to feel "stranded" waiting for some Word of the Holy Spirit to show them what to do. It looked like Paul was used to get things truly going. He was an organizer, a planner and a personality of strength, for he had NOT had to go through "hiding out" after the arrest of Jesus as the others had done. He revitalized their faith in themselves and gave them direction.

Personally, I think there is nothing more important than Truth. It is the sighting of Truth that is cause of Trust and the development of Faith. Truths, continually shown to you and experienced by you will eventually take you beyond faith - to Certainty and Knowing.

Jesus said something like, "Blessed be those who do not know, but have faith." But, I believe he referred to a "willingness" to trust and understand what we don't REALLY understand - in the beginning stages of our spiritual growth. Willing-ness is what Jesus and the Holy Spirit depended on - and still do.

"I have faith to trust something, that in the physical, I cannot touch, or point to." And, yet, intuitively, I know it exists. That is offering Jesus and the Holy Spirit our Willing-ness to be open - that there is more to life than what our physical senses show us.

Eventually, willingness or faith leads straight to Certainty.

Best regards, Lana

Of course they needed faith. Ask Peter if he needed faith when he began tosink in the water. He say Jesus walking out to him, but still his faith waivered as he tried to do the same.

Jesus' disciples definitely had faith! think about it...a man that you barely even know, or maybe you've only heard of, picks you out of many others and tells you to follow Him and He "will make you fishers of men." If that were me I'd be a little suspicious, wouldn't you? I believe it took a lot of faith to follow Jesus even though they witnessed His many miracles.

Isaiah, the place Jesus says in Matthew 17:21 "Howbeit this form goeth not out yet via prayer and fasting" I continuously assumed he grow to be telling his disciples they might could pray and quickly earlier tackling a devil of this "potential" (for loss of a extra right term). the define of the ailment of this boy sounds rather like some form of epilepsy to me, yet I doubt that has plenty bearing. it is likewise a probability, right here, that he's advising this course to the sufferer as properly. however the suitable component I prefer to assert is that "prayer and fasting" are via no skill "works" or "deeds". Fasting is abstaining from foodstuff. The be conscious used right here is ???????? - ne?steia - nace-ti'-ah. Prayer and fasting are probable the quickest, maximum direct techniques we are able to petition our Father for faith. Scripture is completed of descriptions of the prayers and fasts of the prophets, the saints, or perhaps the Lord Himself. i'm hoping this addresses your question.

Most didn't actually see Jesus die, and none of them saw him rise again, so faith was still a necessary element for all.
