You are definitely going to need a car! There is very little by way of public transportation in and out of Whitestone. It is kind of in a far corner of Queens all by itself. Although they did build a nice mall there, with a big movie theater. And the famous Whitestone Lanes bowling alley.
If you have a car you can drive to Flushing and park there to go into the city. Or you can drive closer and park in Long Island City or Astoria.

Oh well.. I can probably write for hours about NYC, its great. First of all you should go to Central Park and/or Rockefeller center.. If u like opera or classic music, theres nothing better than the Metropolitan .. U should also visit the Met, its a museum thats full of different kind of arts, egyptian, greek, etc... a lot! Then u should have fun and buy a whole bunch of toys at FAO Schwartz.. U should walk down the 5th av., 2nd av. .. U should go to 5th av. and 52nd street.. k.. idk what else to tell u, its beautiful, have a great time! And MERRY XMAS
