Adam and Eve indulging... the concept!

If Adam and eve did not exist... there would not have been any human beings! The first of the species of human beings the revered Adam and Eve were the first to surface on Mother Earth as human beings. Their direct ancestors being the ape family!

Now Adam and Eve came onto this Earth. They had both to act as a family. Both were son and daughter of God. That made them brother and sister. How come they could have fathered children?

In the initial stages of development of human life... nothing existed which we could have called as society or community. It was a raw savage world. As per the theory of Charles Darwin, "it was the time for survival of the fittest". It was the time to do and die.

Words like ethics and morality did not exist for even words did not exist during those times. The Lipi (written form of communication) was developed at a much later stage in time.

Even a brother and sister relationship did not exist at that time. There were only two human beings who had surfaced on Mother Earth. They had to copulate and produce children. They did not do it intentionally. They never knew anything about it.

It was that it happened. They did it and something was born. At that moment of time they would have been extremely surprised not knowing what to do about it. Eventually they would have realized it was one of them.

They reared that child and with passage of time another child was born. This time it was a female child. As this small family progressed further... this male and female child copulated at the appropriate time. And the whole family started to grow.

Now there were two families. With passage of time many more families came into existence. Until this point of time there was nothing like morality and ethics that played any role. For the sake of their survival and progeny these families kept on multiplying.

This was the only way to keep intruders at bay. They had to protect themselves from the wild beings roaming Mother Earth.

Ever since the Revelations of God came into existence... the human being who had invoked these words of God realized that the system had to be ordered at some stage. And some system of morality and ethics came into being.

As of today... the copulation by the children of Adam and Eve was a sin but at that time it was not a sin for the relationship of brother and sister never existed in those times.

The development of relationships in human life came at a very later the stage. It was only possible when the community would have developed into a massive strength. Population somewhere in thousands would have prompted the wise and the elders of those times to separate out into distinct families.

We need to understand that whatever is truth today may not hold tomorrow. In a scientific developing world the values whether they are ethical, moral or otherwise keep changing.

We also need to understand that during the times of Mahabharata... the battle was fought using swords, horses and elephants. But now the warfare consists of atomic bombs, missiles and chemical warfare. More on adam and eve here- http://www.godrealized.com/dharma_definition.html

Well... Adam didnt just say no because him and Eve are basically brother and sister. Would you think that your sister would corrupt your through Satan? And you are right, he must have been just as corrupting in nature as eve to take the apple. My opinion is that they were all wrong. And I do believe in the Eden story it is the foundation of Genesis. Also men and women are not as bad as eachother sometimes men may be the cause of international or big disruptions and women may also. I really hope this helps

Absolutely. In fact, if you read carefully, God told ADAM not to eat from that tree but not Eve!

So then Eve gets tricked about something where Adam was pre-warned, she takes it to Adam, who IS pre-warned, and in the end original sin is her fault.

Of course, I find the idea that there was a literal Garden of Eden on Earth improbable anyway.

But it's interesting to think about why the story is the way it is.

Religions are a people's attempt to explain things and set down the principles they believe in. Why women should have pain in childbirth, and *often* die, must have been a cause of concern and wonder. It is not surprising that in mankind's need to make everything "have reasons", a story like this would arise over hundreds of generations.

And instead of dismissing it as a myth, seeing it as a myth *strengthens* us, because then instead of worrying that *God* blamed women for everything, we can start to appreciate the story as a piece of our emotional and spiritual history, connecting us back to our spiritual ancestors and taking what wisdom we can from their stories.

Eve did not corrupt Adam, but knew they could not keep the commands of God without partaking of the forbidden fruit. Satan probably tempted Eve because he knew women were more practical and in touch with the realities of life, even if they are in a state of innocence. It was because of Eve all mankind came to be, so if anything we should be praising Eve, not hating. Had Adam and Eve not eatin of the fruit they would have not known happiness or sorrow, but would have lived a life like drones. Because of what they did each person receive free agency and the ability to experience life. I am grateful to each, but especially to Eve.

I don't think Adam knew what he was getting himself into.
Seriously.
It boils down to Satan being the one to blame here.
Not to pass the buck.
Eve should have stayed home that day.
None of this would be as it if were that the case.
Either way, it happened and so be it.
Thus you and I are here right now.
That is what matters.
It's not about placing blame, rather, it's about dealing with consequences.
Good story though.
It's where we come from, if you believe (which I do).

If you believe the Bible, then it is true that man was created first.
Woman came from man.
Both equal, man was just first.
So it is that a man will leave his mother and be bound to his wife.
Men do have more responsibility.
Women have to give birth and all that painful stuff.

Peace.

This is how I read the story, based on the NIV version.
Something important to note, Adam and Eve were tempted at the same time, "She also gave some to her husband, who was with her and he ate it." (Genesis 3 v6).

Verse 1
It starts with the serpent deliberately misquoting God's only rule (Genesis 2 verse 16. "You can eat from any tree, except the tree of knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat it you will surely die.") as "You must not eat from any tree in the garden".

Verse 2 and 3
Eve corrects the serpent, "we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden" Eve then goes on to misquote God's command, adding the clause, "and you must not touch it." This implies that she hadn't been told the command accurately by Adam (God's command comes before Eve's creation).

Verses 4 and 5
The serpent starting lying in ernest, claiming that God had lied to Adam and Eve "You will not surely die" and claims that they can be more like God "knowing good and evil." So the serpent is stirring up mistrust and envy of God.

So why did Adam misquote God's rule to Eve? More importantly, why didn't he correct the misquote? Adam has misquoted (lied) about God's command, and lies by omission by not correcting Eve's misunderstanding. So it seems Adam committed the first misdeed, rather than Eve.

Verse 6
Eve then decides to break God's rule, Adam says nothing to stop her, (rather callous of him, letting Eve do something that could mean her death). Eve then gives some to Adam, who again doesn't speak against it. Oh, you didn't die, I'll try some, since it's safe.

In summary, both Adam and Eve broke God's command, Adam has (seemingly) misinformed Eve, twice kept quiet when he should have have spoken out and let Eve face the risk of death first. Adam comes out of this looking far worse than Eve.

I'm unsure how literally to take this story, it's not really about eating fruit, it's really about obeying God. Adam and Eve thought that they could gain by disobeying God and look how it turned out. Adam gets hard labour, Eve will suffer to produce children.

God could have just destroyed them, instead he gives them a chance to survive. Their descendants are given the opportunity to rebuild the broken relationship with God.

Adam and Eve were both created perfect, that is without sin. However, they were created as free moral agents, that is with a free will. So, they were not corrupt.

Eve was deceived by an jealous angel. She could have chosen to not listen and instead gone to her husband and they to the Creator. She didn't. She went to Adam, who also chose to listen instead of correcting her and going to God. She did not corrupt him, he made a personal choice. He loved his wife more than his Creator. She loved the prospect of being like God more than God himself.
Though they both were punished, God put the blame with the man, Adam, not her.
(Genesis 2:15-17;3:16,17;Romans 5:12)

We can, as their children, blame them for the sin they passed on. That sin makes it harder to do what is right. However, the choices we make are our own. We cannot rightly blame anyone for them, men or women.

Adam and Eve are metaphors, and Genesis was written by men "channeling" God. The key here is MEN. What better way to put women in their place and keep them down than by making them wholly accountable for "the fall."

For thousands of years we lived in a world that was based on feminine, Goddess-based spirituality. At some point, the guys got tired of this and said "we're taking over." This is when male-dominated thinking came into play in regards to spirituality and this is where it has been for a few thousand years.

Fortunately, the tide is turning once more, so watch out guys!

Adam loved his wife, every romance novel is like Adam, a man giving his life for his bride, just Like Jesus Christ who gave his life for his bride(church)

Far as Eve and saying, no, called free will.

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Was the serpent (Devil, Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, ) that tricked her - Corinthians II 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

so it comes down, you have to answer for your own actions: and reacation is caused by action - Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

If you read into the situation a little more, Eve was actually correct in what she did. If she had not partaken of the fruit then they would still be in the Garden today. She knew that the only way to progress was to gain the knowledge by eating the fruit. Adam also knew that to keep the commandment of multipliiyng and replenishing the Earth, he had to eat to remain with her. There should never be any blame placed on either of them because we wouldn't be here with out them.
