That was a Pagan holiday too.. Why can't we have both.. Yes The resurrection is much more important for the Christian than the birth or Christ. The coming of the Holy Spirit is huge too. But it's interesting that none of these day were important enough to the church to have them recorded. I think any day we can put the spot light on Jesus is a Great Day!! Jim

Pagan customs should be kept with the pagans. and no I am not Jehovah wittness. I am pentacostal. But , many of us from other religions have done studies on many of the holidays, including Christmas and Easter, and want no part of the pagan traditions. We celebrate the birth of Jesus, tho we dont know the exact date, so we truly celebrate Him every day. To all the other pagan customs that are in Christmas , we want no part, the ones in the other holidays either. Read about Easter and you cry. Its not about eggs .. easter is about celebrating the resurrection of our Lord. And on none of these days, do we need the paganism, phony materialism, and al that that goes with it. It is time to get together with those you love, and that love you and celebrate what that day means. Its not about drinking too much, eating too much, and all the other STUFF that ppl bring to all the holidays. For us, on Chrstman, we celebrate His life, birth, death and resurrection, for therin lie OUR BLESSED HOPE. We celebrate jesus. Its not about the presents and all the hype that ppl go into debt for. Most dont even believe in Jesus that celebrate Christmas.. Man, God must weep.
Thanks for your question.I pray other Christians, from every denomination will begin to do reasearch on all the pagan customs, and see just how evil they are. The Christmas tree stands so tall... HMMMM? It represents the pagan God of sexuality, represents an erect penis. I kid you not, study and find out. Much is written even in religios books about all this, yet ppl say thats not what it means to me today. Doesnt matter. You cant mix truth with error, darkness with light. Just celebrate Jesus and you cant go wrong.

No need to give anything back to Pagans. They have their own celebrations.
Yours (both Christmas and Easter) have their origins in Paganism, but Pagans have been here celebrating their own holidays all along.
I personally think you should celebrate what means something to you.. if you choose to celebrate Christmas as the remembrance of the birth of your savior, and Easter as the day of his death/burial/resurrection, then by all means, do so :)
Many blessings in whatever you choose to do.

Give Christmas back to the Pagans? And what do you think they'll do to it? Make it boring, loud, a little awkward and probably smelly.
Sure Christmas has pagan roots (as does Easter, I'm sure you know that now.) But you know, they just stole it from Proto-pagans, Animists, and Ancestor Worshipers. Who by the way, just stole it from the Sun Worshipers.
So, are we hoping that the Sun Worshipers are going to get Christmas eventually? Well then say good-bye to peppermint sticks, egg nog, and x-box 360 games under the Christmas tree, and say hello staring at a stick as it's shadow gets shorter, then longer.

To me, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter are Christian
holidays. However, there are religious and secular historians
that Thanksgiving and Christmas are pagan. With commercialism and big money(business) around these 3 biggest holidays in the United States of America, you wonder if
Pagans going to get thier way.
Thanksgiving started in America back during the colonies
(Massachutets Bay-1620) when the Puritans gave thanks for religious freedom in the new land from England's church led
by the King George III. Until after WWII Thanksgiving became a U.S. Holiday.
Christmas Day was between 4 b.c. to about 4 a.d. when Jesus
Christ was born on the earth to teach the world a new way of life.
Life everlasting with Jesus and God the Heavenly Father by
repentance and faith in Jesus. His miraculus birth, death on
the cross of Calvary, Resurection( The Reason for the celebration of Easter Sunday about 27 to 33a.d.), the ascention to the Father in Heaven and the person bodily return of Jesus
Christ with power and great glory as the crowning event of the gentile age to reign on earth for 1,000 years.

Easter was also Pagan!! Ishtar.
I say give them both back, including santa and that bunny
All Christians, Jews and those related to them are to keep the Jewsih feasts as ordered in Leviticus 23. They are for all of us, read Deut 16.

Nah. Christians have been celebrating the birth of their god at Christmas for so long it has become ingrained. It's become a very important holiday to them. However, perhaps they could develop their own ways to celebrate it that focuses on their reasons for celebration rather than using pagan things like mistletoe, holly, decorating trees, Santa, etc. that clearly are pagan practices.

Well, I agree with the easter part of your question, however I believe that the Pagans don't even believe that Christ was born in December... Something like the spring..... I like Christmas and by the way, do you celebrate YOUR birthday? So why not his?

First off you can't give Christmas to anyone because it belongs to Coca-cola, and Halmark. And as far as Easter goes, people should stop with the birth and the death of Christ, and pay attention to the LIFE, and the MESSAGE.

LOL what a mess. Why not celebrate Christmas closer to his actually birthday. It was changed to December for political reasons so long ago. You don't have to give it back. Observe it correctly.
