Pearl Harbor. 2,300 people doesn't seem like that big of a deal when you think of how many people die of completely preventable things like tuberculosis, malaria, dirty water or starvation every die. Or the people in Sudan. Or the 100,00+ innocent Iraqi civilians in the US's initial bombing. But the exciting things are what catch people's attention. For ex., breast cancer tons of attention, prostate cancer- cricket chirp.

Today is the day that will live in INFAMY !!!

Today is the day that Japan attacked the US Naval Fleet at Pearl Harbor.

Side note though from the History channel which stated that the US Navy actually fired the first shot when a US Ship sunk a Japanese 2 man sub.

As a liberal, I know the answer. On December 7, 1941, the United States set out on an operation to win the hearts and minds of the Japenese people. Concerned with maintaining international support, Roosevelt suspended all action until the U.N. approved it. The United States withdrew from Germany (they weren't winning the peace, see source) and immediately engaged in diaglouge with the fascists. Eventually, the Natzis and Europe were able to create a "two riech solution" that allowed Europe to be obliterated. But since we didn't give Musileeni his fair share of this country, I am ashamed to be an American.
