It's not easier to process than cane sugar, but it is much much cheaper.
The two types of sugar come from either beets or from cane. High fructose corn syrup is of course derived from corn. It's much easier to grow large amounts of corn the process it down than to use real sugar. It's gotten to the point now that when something has cane sugar in it, people think it taste weird because they're not used to it.

It cost less than other forms of sugar and can be easily transported in trucks. Food makers use it for those reasons.

Quit buying canned foods and cook from fresh. Then you don't have that problem. You'll probably lose weight, so if that's an issue for you, you may want to boost your caloric intake. If it's not, then you'll want to save up for skinnier pants.
